- another day devoted (depressingly enough) to aps. . .but in the morning i went to an award at city hall where your community and you was honored as outstanding supporter of prevention award!! that was a ton of fun - i saw jenga, karen, nick, and shyla there. the only drawback was that it went till 11, so i lost basically my entire morning to it. X_x in any case, i spent the rest of the day studying mostly for physics and english, although i played an hour of basketball in the afternoon and even sneaked out in the night to study at starbucks with anya. . .oh, and i crashed uni around 9 just to see some people at the les mis show. . .
you think HS exit exam is a waste of time? think again.
 
- some of the day's stories: last year, taylor county high school in georgia held their first integrated prom - that's right, before then there had always been separate proms for whites and blacks (apparently, to alleviate problems with interracial dating - whatever). . .and apparently, it wasn't GOOD ENOUGH, because now the white students wants to organize a white-only prom again. what the hell??? i'm sorry, but that's just messed up. i think in the 21st century, we should all be tolerant enough to attend a mixed prom. just goes to prove my belief that a lot of southerners are just plain backwards. on a more positive note: yes, that IS mr. rogers. . .and now he has an asteroid named after him!! basically, they just took the celestial body, which was just known as 26858 before, and renamed it "misterrogers". . .
it's a small world after all. . .
- and i can even prove it to you: this is one of the wackiest things that's ever happened to me. ok, so on thursday i get this im (apparently, it was even ACCIDENTAL) from a guy about a company that was defacing hinduism (they were printing a mock ganesha's image on slippers). . .anyways, afterwards i asked sid (that's his name, duh) how he got my sn - and it turns out that jeremy, who works in my lab at uci, gave him THIS SITE on a random tangent. but the story doesn't stop there!! sid's girlfriend goes to cornell (can you believe that? crazy long distance). . .and she's really good friends with this girl i know over there - insane! how is ANY of this even remotely possible?? simple: did i mention sid was bengali?? there's your answer. =D okay, this entry's getting WAY too long. back to studying. . .

- another song that just grew on me bit by bit, purely because of the chorus. . .and possibly because of all those nba playoffs commercial. for some reason though, i never hear the "a" in a certain part of the chorus, so it always sounds like she's saying, "thanks for making me. . .FIGHTER!!!" O.o;;;
- friday!!! guess what means: english essay!! wait a second. . .that's not good. before that, we graded our take-home multiple choices from english, and i realized i got a perfect score on it!!! desperately needed grade booster for yours truly, who didn't get a B+ at the quarter break. . .hopefully that, and the english portfolio that i got a 58/60 on, will boost my grade somewhat. essay wasn't *too* bad, and i did more mun interviews during office hours, before going into spanish and telling calkins my topic for the spanish presentation:

- don't tell me you didn't see that coming. i split lunch between mun and csf, and then spent most of physics haplessly trying to learn fluid mechanics. . .and then getting an easy optics quiz thrown at our lab group (for once). after school, i loitered around the parking lot with si hyun, ani, and emily, and afterwards headed off to cha of all places with anya, where i helped her out with a little bit of calculus before committing an evil sin: i ditched lecture. . .to play basketball!!
- actually, it's not as delinquent as it may sound, mostly because my neurobio professor doesn't do much more than read out of the book as it is, so it's not like there was any special knowledge to be learned. =.= ah well - i played with ani, jack, eric, josh, si hyun, and frank. . .tons of fun. in the evening, i crammed as much physics c as i could before my head started to hurt, and then my dad suggested we go out to dinner: thai food!! it was absolutely delicious, although i don't think i realized it 'cause my dad was quizzing me DURING dinner!! urg.
got the weekend to MYSELF!!! nyarharharhar.
- of course, it's not quite as glamorous as it sounds. . .i have an insane amount of stuff to compress into my puny brain over this weekend, and seemingly way too little time to do it. in the evening, i called christine for a little while (whom i haven't talked to in FOREVER!), and tried to calm some unnecessary sat ii anxiety (*cough* ceci *cough*) before falling asleep on my books. . .

- this sotd brought to you by shiyue, who had it up on his xanga, reminding me of this song (i think it came out in the the mid-90s). it's one of my favorite songs of all time, especially cuz the background really has that unearthly aura about it and the chorus is well written. . .
for the FIRST time this week, i actually had a whole day of school.
- actually, i'm kinda lying. since it was a thursday, it was late start at 8:30 (and besides, no period 6, so it was actually a shorter day). but thanks to the great mrs. want, i ended having to spend the morning slugging through stats review projects. . .ugly stuff. after econ, i started on the first of seven mun interviews that i did today with rui, paul, anya, and mrs. oakes. those were pretty fun, i suppose, just seeing what kind of ideas the board candidates had. after school, i was excessively bored and really didn't do much for the rest of the day, until the night. . .
got to see les miserables! it was terrific!
- i was most impressed by alex mohajer, who played out jean valjean, mostly because of the immense amount of singing required - alex's voice held up throughout the entire play, a really impressive feat. also terrific were joy, who did an endearing job playing the tragic eponine, and chris winsor (who's actually from capa valley high school!) who played out marius. . .he has a really consistent, rich voice. special shoutout to bui, josh, and parsa!! they did awesome jobs playing various roles in the company, and josh fit his pastor role in the beginning of the play perfectly. overall, just a really special show that ALL uni students should see at least once. . .
and the lake show moves on!!

- very. . .very. . .tired. long day. blog tomorrow (hopefully). added 05/03/2003: okay, so not tomorrow, but rather. . .tomorrow's morrow's morrow. ah well, at least i found some time to write some nonsense in here. a late start day, so i didn't need to be at school till 9:45, but i ended up needing every minute of the extra time in the morning i got, finishing up stats hw as well as some your community and you paperwork. school was pretty ho-hum, and i finally got tested on my english notecards (which wasn't that bad). in the evening, played some basketball after neurobio, and otherwise didn't do much. . .

- another relatively new song, although i think it's been out for a few weeks too. i like the guitar background more than anything, mainly because the lyrics, while they make sense, don't seem to really construct a coherent story or anything. . .
happy 28th to my brother arnab!!
- another free day today, which meant mostly ap studying - after the stupid senior meeting at 8, that is. all we did was essentially talk about commencement and all that other mushy good stuff. most of the afternoon, i wasted away trying to finish up csf work (which i finally finished in the night, ugh), and then in the evening i went to play basketball with eric, ani, si hyun, and rui. that was a bit of fun. nite was one thing, and one thing alone:
the lakers demolished the t-wolves.

- i guess i discovered this song a little late, but actually i didn't like it that much when i heard it the first time. but i guess after hearing it for a while, i liked it more and more - and definitely more than sk8er boi. . .
magic mountain day!! w00t.
- man, what a blast. i felt slightly bad when rui called me this morning around 7:10 from school, saying he got there at 6:45 to wait for the buses. =.= smooth. anyways, i ended up getting to school around 7:35, and unlike most people, i brought my backpack, fully equipped with my cell, my digital camera, and. . .my ap physics b and c books. nerd alert! sorry, sorry, but i really wanted to use the bus ride on the way to the park to get some studying done, which i actually did. rui and i sat next to kim, nessa, shyla, and pooja, and on the way i tried to help out with kim's and rui's college dilemmas.
- when we got there, rui and i eruped into a roller coaster riding frenzy, and we ended up hitting almost all the open rides that we could. we started with deja vu and psyclone, and in the course of the day ended up going on the gold rusher, riddler's revenge, roaring rapids, log jammer, superman, batman, goliath, viper, and. . .
revolution!! WORST ride of all. made me PUKE.
- no, seriously - it made me throw up. basically, going into the ride, i was feeling a tad queasy, and had a bit of a headache. . .but what happened on revolution just exacerbated it. basically, the stupid designers of the ride put these barriers on either side of the headrest, and whenever the coaster turned left or right (which it did a LOT), my head constantly smashed into the side, resulting in a splitting headache, and eventually, a split stomach. at least i saved face by managing to stave it off until i was well off the coaster. . .stupid ride.
- not that it mattered much, because right after, i felt immediately better and rui and i went on viper, riddler's revenge, and psyclone one more time before we finally left. too bad colossus and ninja were closed (and the line for x was so freaking LONG), or else we prolly would have hit those, too. some views of the park:

- i really haven't heard this song that much on the radio, but the bridge and chorus are really good, and the lyrics are pretty easy to relate to. the group kinda reminds me of american hi-fi, not just because of the name but because of the lead singer's voice, too. . .
- i managed to mostly waste the day away, studying for aps or whatnot, and collapsed pathetically early. . .tomorrow's magic mountain tho!! *sweet*
