song of the day (right click title to download):
panjabi mc feat. jay-z - mundian to bach ke
mundian to bach ke rahi,
nahi tu hun hun hui mutiyar. . .
translation: beware of the boys,
you've only just become a woman. . .
- this song is just hilarious. the original version only had panjabi mc, which of course is an indian group - but the song's actually in punjabi, a language that i cannot speak AT ALL. amazingly enough, tho, the song became a smash hit in europe, after which jay-z picked up on it and brought it here - where it's now #49 on the billboard charts. go figure. . .
another unproductive saturday!!
- didn't we all see that coming. studied most of the morning (whatever "morning" was left after i woke up at TEN), and some of the afternoon, then left around 4 to go to friendship shelter with other ycy people. . .only i realized there were seven people there!!! since i wasn't about to shove two people in my trunk, a member's mother was really nice and helped give rides. in all, it was me, yannie, robbie, steven, alex nourishad, catherine, eugene, and joey - all 9th and 10th graders!! we had a ton of fun tho (we made beef ramen soup, mashed potatoes, and salad =D), and i even took some pics while we waited for catherine's mom on the way back (see below). . .
saturday night: bball time.
- went to tundra, and played with jay and ani. we ended up playing three games of 21, of which ani took the first and the last - and i took the second off this weird-@$$ circus three. the fun part was that i was a defensive god, stuffing a bunch of shots - on the other hand, i was an offensive clunk, getting blocked half the time and bricking the rest. had dinner at subway at nite before FINALLY coming home around 10:00. . .
and, once again, the mighty ducks pull off another OT win!! they're unstoppable. . .

song of the day (right click title to download):
frankie j - don't wanna try
don't wanna try, don't wanna try,
i 'bout just had enough -
it's been a rough road,
baby, just let it go. . .
- no real motivation for picking this song, but i really like the piano interludes and the background. a little mournful for the mood i'm in right now, but it really is a good song. tomorrow's song will be a little more. . .abstract. . .btw, updated playlist at right:
i finally got back to updating my blog ON TIME!
- i suppose i have a bit of catchup to do over the last few days. a few highlights: went to the gym twice in the past two days (and again today), so i'm incredibly sore after this whole week. . .science club elections on wednesday resulted in widespread disappointment, and after consoling people i started to field direct complaints about the elections (and i'm not even president); that ruined my wednesday. . .thursday was mad stress, because i LOST my take-home ap english test and i still had to finish my beloved case study. . .and finally, i got my bio midterm score back:
my professor truncated the midterm to 17 questions!!! and in the process, got rid of all the questions i missed. =)
- i guess he felt bad about the whole "unfair advantage" thing, so he decided to throw out the questions that were from old tests - and i ended up getting a perfect score as a result!! good stuff. =) the karma stretched onto stats, where i actually got a 100 on a stats test. =D the world is turning upside down. ahh, but all was not well on thursday, as the yankees' rotation finally lost a game, and the lakers lost at home.
but the ducks won in quintuple OT!!
- man, that game was insanely long. onwards to today - woke up and did some rush prepping for my english case study presentation, then performed it in first period - most people said it wasn't excessively boring, so that's good. econ was hohum (altho seager DID start to suspect poor kim of ditching), and spanish was mostly calkins scaring us with the details of our UGLY senior project (who thinks i should do spanish soccer?? =P) stats followed, where connie and i mostly worked on ap exams (but mostly engaged in acts of violence). and then, as always, physics brought a quiz, this time on optics - which i absolutely detest. . .

- as we try to move past one tragedy, another one comes flying in our faces. on the left, the space shuttle soyuz launched saturday morning in russia - it's the first manned flight to the international space station since the columbia horror. the kewl thing is that one of the astronauts on board is american, and the other is russian. . .on the right, a somber shot of red lion area junior high school in pennsylvania, where a 14-year-old shot his principal and then himself on thursday. it's pretty depressing that we still have school shootings, even after columbine and granite hills. . .
- went to the gym after school today, then went to basketball after lecture - and played with a bunch of indian people!!! i didn't know any of them, actually, but after playing with them for a while i realized i fit in really well - they were all incredibly nice. one of them, supreeth, goes to uni. . .anyone know him?

nelly furtado - turn off the light
it's getting so lonely inside this bed -
don't know if i should lick my wounds or say woe is me instead,
and there's an aching inside my head,
it's telling me i'm better off alone. . .
- apparently i couldn't shake off the feelings from yesterday. just really short on time, perhaps. . .i'll give it another go tomorrow. tomorrow is friday - i should have time friday. . .right?

blue man group feat. dave matthews - sing along
if i tell you i'm strong, will you play along?
or will you see i'm as insecure as anybody else?
it's like this. . .
- admittedly, you won't find a great variety of lyrics in this song - but the beat's awesome, thanks to everyone's favorite blue man group. the tune's just pretty catchy, and the scat's always cool. . .
- i decided to truncate this blog entry tonight, only because it's been a terribly long day, and honestly i've wasted my entire afternoon, evening, and night trying to comfort and then getting flamed for something i really don't think i'm responsible for. oh well. congratulations to science club board: leslie, brian, kali, jenny, jason, julia, aditya, kaidi, and olga. best of luck next year, and hope everything goes even better than it did this year. i'm out for now. i'll resume regular entries tomorrow.

song of the day (right click title to download):
tupac and dr. dre - california love
let me serenade the streets of l.a. -
from oakland to sac-town,
the bay area and back down,
cali is where they put the mac down. . .
- the california anthem, gotta love it. i think they play this every year the lakers win the championship (and why not?). quite possible the perfect song to blast in your car on a sunny afternoon, if only to tick off the car next to you. . .
- couldn't seem to get up this morning, so i ended up having to memorize my english flashcards on the way to school - only to not get called on. figures. . .ap econ was full of nothingness (as usual), but ap spanish wasn't:
el gato ir a verla, se ha caido del tejado - MEOW MEOW MEOW!
- translation: the cat went to go see her - but he fell off the roof. . .meow meow meow! (hopefully you got THAT part) ok, so if you have no clue what's going on, the listening part of the ap exam we had today had this selection about old spanish tunes, and they played a clip of a song called el señor don gato (mister cat) - it's about a cat who wants to get married to the most beautiful female cat in the land, but falls off a roof and dies - but gets brought back to life because cats have seven (i thought it was nine?!) lives. . .how random. but the woman who was singing the song had the WORST voice in the world, and she kept meowing throughout the WHOLE song - and our class couldn't stop laughing. . .
- wish stats could be that fun - alas, 'tis not meant to be. physics was even worse, topped off by an insanely hard quiz on this wire on a cart that flew down a hill and into. . .a magnetic field?! that's worse than mister cat with his seven lives. ah whatever. ycy meeting at lunch, and then went to uci and made a cameo appearance (sighted by jeNn) while trying to figure out my neurobio grade:
how SCREWY. apparently the midterm questions were all from previous exams, which other students got a hold of.
- this stupid tutoring service called galaxy gives them out as "preparation" for their students. . .but, naturally, they tell their students not to give them to anyone else, and basically it's all a load of bs and unfair because stupid people just memorize questions from old tests and get way better grades than people like me who study their butts off and still get shafted. i'm just so sick of it all.

- here we see rick santorum, this republican senator from pennsylvania who was stupid enough to say, "if you have the right to gay sex within your home, you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery, you have the right to ANYTHING." alrighty, now i'm not liberal enough to openly support homosexuality or anything, but comparing homosexuality to incest is a bit extreme. naturally, those well-tempered democrats have jumped on him like wolves and lambasted him. . .just another story of controversy in the good ol' u.s. of a. speaking of wolves, k.g. and minnesota throttled the lakers tonite, shocking me rather badly. wolves aren't as much of a pushover as i thought.
virtual insanity passes 2000 hits. . .
- went to the gym this evening, and after running two miles i actually found rui of all people. we ended up playing a few 2-on-2 games, the first two against these two mexican guys, which we won pretty easily (even tho i blew a few easy shots). we played another game after that against these two older russian guys, and that was a little tougher (altho admittedly i played some psycho defense, i think i blocked each of them like three times). we were winning, but these other guys wanted the court, so they ended up winning on a "next short wins". oh well. . .rather sad tonight, after reading this poem. . .

utada hikaru - simple and clean
"wish i could prove i love you -
but does that mean i have to walk on water?"
when we are older you'll understand
it's enough when i say so. . .
- the kingdom hearts theme, as most of you prolly recognize this song. i like it a lot, even if it's just a translation from japanese (original song is called "hikari"). . .did you know that utada hikaru's actually a student at columbia?? her english ain't half bad. . .
neurobio midterm today!!! aaarrgh.
- granted, i did some stuff before that, but somehow my day's mostly a blur. woke up early morning because i had to finish econ worksheets, then sped through ap english (didn't get picked on for flashcards!! hehehehe), econ, spanish (UGH - more taping in the lab. . .i'm sooo bad at that), stats, and finally physics. through the whole day, i was just freaking out over the midterm, which actually turned out not to be so bad. lucky me. . .

- gonna keep blog entries short from here until the next two or three weeks - just don't have the time to waste like i did during spring break (lol). nothing too interesting today, other than a few lunchtime encounters with toxic numbers of freshies (porter, jean, kq) and sophs (ceci, kaidi, betsy. . .and revati AAHHHH). . .they caught the queen of spades!! (as you can see above) apparently, he's #18 on the u.s. most wanted list. . .still looking for that ace of spades (saddam) tho. . .and the kid on the right? he's graduating at 13 years old. omg.
final note: yankees have scored 164 runs this year, and only allowed 60 runs.
- a +74 run differential. . .you don't need to know anything about baseball to know that's just nuts. another night of mad ap cramming and homework looms ahead for this neilymon. . .oh well. . .

song of the day (right click title to download):
3 doors down - the road i'm on
but what you thought was real in life -
oh, it somehow steer you wrong,
and now you just keep trying and trying
to find out where you belong. . .
- new stuff from 3 doors down - one of those contemplative tracks that makes you realize how much we all have in common, how we've all at one point just been trashed by life, and a lot of times you do know how someone feels. that's the same road that i'm on. . .
- a really nice sunday morning today, and the best part is that the homework load for tomorrow is pretty relaxed, so not too much stress tonight. i should probably get some neurobiology studying in before the afternoon, just so i don't bomb it TOO badly; hopefully, in the afternoon, i can catch up with leslie for a movie. . .if there's time, i wanted to hop to better luck tomorrow (which is probably what i'm going to buy my ticket for =P), just to check it out because it seems interesting. so yeah, no bulletproof monk for me this weekend. hehe. in the evening, i'm off to friendship shelter, so that should be pretty nice. . .

- on the left is a link to perhaps the most innovative commercial ever (credit again to sam yam =P). it's one of those freakishly cool chain reactions (or rube goldberg machines, if you know of those), except in this case the whole contraption consists of honda parts. the most amazing this about this whole thing is that NONE of it is computer generated - give all credit to the commercial makers!! meanwhile, today's easter sunday, which means another mass by the pope. i'm not christian, but that doesn't stop me from respecting the 82-year-old leader and admiring his efforts to spread peace and faith. . .and he's developing parkinson's disease too. =/
lakers annihilated the t-wolves today!
- shaq + kobe = 71 points. ouch. in the evening, i headed off to friendship shelter with robbie, only to find that they were already making easter dinner. . .so we just donated the food we brought and came back. rest of the evening will prolly consist of stats and econ hw (ugh), and perhaps even an enlightening convo with ceci's feminist friend who's bound to flame me until i cry. oh boy.
