song of the day (right click title to download):
p.o.d. - sleeping awake
explain these motions and metaphors,
unlock these secrets in me,
describe the visions -
the meaning is missing. . .won't anybody listen?

- in honor of today's movie madness!! this is the song they played during the credits, and it sounded really good at the end of the movie - especially the part about "dreaming of zion. . .awake. . ."

oh MAN. what an incredibly great day. even better than sunday!

- before it turned into the perfect evening though, i had to slosh through the morning. which greeted me with the ap macroeconomics test. on top of that, i had to be at school an hour before everyone else on a long block thursday. . .which wasn't THAT much of an issue, considering i'd been up since 5 cramming for micro. oi =.= macro was actually surprisingly easy, and a lot of the others agreed. i finished in the middle of office hours, so i spent the rest of it with jay and jack stuffing even more micro nonsense into our heads. . .want was nice to us in stats and didn't make us do any work, but after i left to go the exam room:

(in an indian accent) oh no!! what is happening to me?!

- forsooth. that's what i greeted jay with when i saw him, thanks to my econ papers flying out of my hands. in any case, ap microeconomics (incidentally, if you haven't noticed, i'm whimsically putting all the ap exams in funky colors) ended up being harder than i thought it'd be, but still largely based on common sense and on the whole, really doable. and then after school, jay and i sped off to the spectrum!! jack ended up taking his own car, but the three us reconvened around 3:30, where we found jenga and the others waiting in line, since they weren't letting anyone into the theater until half an hour before the movie started. here's the FULL guest list:

anya, dahlia, feffi, nilofar, sarah, yilin, maggie, sayeh, jenga, kunal, bui, jay, rui, si hyun, young-wook, steve, jeff, jack, paul, matt, adam, patrick, luan, michael chiang and his bro, and me - TWENTY-SIX in all!!

- jenga was really nice for getting there early and saving spots, so almost everyone got excellent seats in the theater - in fact, they saved seats for me (and yilin and nilofar, the two people i was waiting outside for) so we all sat together in basically the best seats in the theater. the movie itself was excellent - at least in my opinion, which quite a few people don't seem to share. =P

- the main complaint seems to be the lack of plot - which i will emphatically DENY. it really wasn't that contrived at all - at least not if you open up your mind and don't take everything for what it seems to be. of QUITE the controversy was the scene with the architect, which a lot of people didn't like - but si hyun, rui, and i had a lot of fun trying to figure out whether he was actually real or just another program designed to keep any flaws like neo at bay. . .*spookiness* the action scenes were, as expected, stunning - although they got a tad repetitive, particulary with the hordes of agent smith. all was forgiven, tho, with the godly scene with morpheus and his ownage of the twins (with the katana and gun =D). what i WILL say was especially annoying was the excessive lovemaking, and in particular the scene with morpheus making a speech to zion and the subseqeuent orgy-rave/sex scene with neo and trinity. needless to say, that was just. . .pointless. bleah.

- i could go on FOREVER, but i'd torture anyone reading this, so i'll sum up the rest of the night quickly: after matrix, most of us stayed for x2: x-men united, which was also terrific, making the night even better. i got a ride home from jay, and then proceeded to give STEVE a ride home, but that was pretty much the end of the great day, cuz that's when i found out the lakers had been eliminated. :'(

song of the day (right click title to download):
matchbox twenty - 3 am
well i can't help
but be scared of it all sometimes,
says "the rain's gonna wash away" -
i believe it. . .

- one of matchbox twenty's first songs - i like this one a lot, if only for the guitar background and the chorus. again, a pretty old song, but i've been feeling strangely nostalgic the past few days. . .

gaaah!! the neurobiology midterm destroyed me!!!

- as expected, it was insanely hard - a lot of the questions went into meticulous detail, despite the "broad scope" that the professor promised. bleah. ok, but let me rewind before i delve into that madness: we actually had block today, which i didn't expect given the ap testing. english included an err. . .scintillating case study on othello by jeff, and during office hours i went around to my teachers and just did some grade checks/paper collecting. spanish, as usual, saw me make zero progress on my senior project, which i KNOW is going to come back to bite me in the butt later. i spent lunch wandering like a nomad with rui. . .

physics was FUN though!!

- mr. malin put on double happiness, this movie about an asian girl who feels alienated from her family; although it wasn't inspiring or anything, it was actually really funny at times. besides, malin even gave us popcorn, so that distracted me even MORE from my last-second cramming for my midterm. we will now return to the regularly scheduled programming. which, of course, was my lamenting of that HORRIBLE midterm. out of 30, i only felt like i knew about ten for sure, and the rest were seriously up in the air. oh boy. . .

song of the day (right click title to download):
gin blossoms - found out about you
is there a line that i could write,
sad enough to make you cry?
all the lines you wrote to me were lies. . .

- good song from the '90s!!! i wonder if anyone remembers this song - gin blossoms actually had a few hits in the mid '90s, but the only reason i know ANY of them is because my bro was such a huge music fan. . .

- after yesterday's fiasco, today was a much more relaxing today. since a ton of people were out for chem, most of my morning classes were pretty sparsely populated. =P the only class in which i did anything at all was stats, and i had to compensate for my utter laziness in procrastinating for the project by doing it quickly in the morning. . .after school, i dropped by dr. zeng's lab where i posted this. xD i'm gonna have to cram like mad from here on out if i don't want to die on my neurobio midterm tomorrow.

there's NINE chapters on the midterm - my professor's CRAZY!!!

song of the day (right click title to download):
simple plan - addicted
i'm addicted to you,
i can't pretend i don't care
when you don't think about me -
do you think i deserve this?

- i'm beginning to like simple plan quite a bit, if only because the only two songs of theirs i've heard (this one and "i'd do anything") really appealed to me. this song has one of those witty/perverted twists in the lyrics - "i'm a dick, i'm addicted to you". . .LOL.

ugh. all i remember about today is ap physics exam.

- no, seriously. i'm posting this WELL after monday, mainly because i got so demoralized about the test that i ended up staying almost an hour later to talk to robbie and jackson about our answers. my dad threw such a fit when i told him how i did - =.=. to cut it short, i did pretty fine on the multiple choice but majorly choked on the free response, mainly on two problems: one, an electrical circuit where i thought the lack of current through two capacitors meant no potential difference (SO STUPID), and the last one on the test, a problem about the collision between two atoms that made no sense to me. or anyone else for that matter. *sigh* i'm seriously expecting a 3 or a 4. . .
